Jackie English is touted as one of “Six Canadian Directors to Watch” by Hollywood Reporter, her feature as writer/director BECOMING BURLESQUE (Telefilm) held the opening slot at the Canadian Film Fest after a successful world premiere at Whistler Film Festival, Canadian and American theatrical releases followed where it picked up several Audience Choice Awards. She has written a number of short films including NIMBY, first prize winner at Toronto Urban Film Fest NIMBY and her interactive animation AL'S RELATIVISTIC ADVENTURES which won the International Pirelli prize. Her bravoFACT! Short written by Sean Cullen DUTY CALLS was selected for the Atlantic Film Festival, St John's International Woman Festival and won "Best Actress in a Short" at the Canadian Film Fest.  Other award-winning shorts include REMEMBER THIS? Staring Barry Flatman, and rom-com EXPIRY DATE.  She directed a show for Bell On Stage On Demand, which created movies of 12 plays.   She also wrote hundreds of hours of content while a host/producer at TVO Kids included A.C.T. award nominee JACKIE'S SCHOOL OF DANCE.

A feature film Shiva Negar (American Assassin) plays Fatima, a young Muslim woman who finds a new passion awaiting her after rebelliously stepping into a burlesque club. She soon finds herself at the crossroads between her self expression, her family and her faith.  The film explores the intergenerational identity of women born in the west, with legacy in east as well as the power dynamic of hiding and revealing the female form in a deceptively entertaining piece full of love and laughs.  Premiered at the Whistler Film Festival where it was nominated for a Borsos award, it also opened the Canadian Film Festival, and was a nominee Best Feature at RIFFA, won best overall film at Tryon Film Festival and Audience Choice in Texas.  After an Canadian and American cross country theatrical release, it played on Superchannel and is available on iTunes and Amazon Prime Video.

The Splinter Unit was a 1 year film collective project that produced 8 film and a gala screening event.  Jackie English directed 5 of the 8 “Remember This” “Smoke Break” “Game Time Decision” “Cuffed” and “Jackhammer”.  More than 80 people contributed collectively including: Lamar Johnson, Barry Flatman, Gabe Grey, David Huband and Stephanie Belding just to name a few.

Written by and starring Seán Cullen. Also starring Debra McGrath, Paul Amos and Glenda Braganza.  A beat cop on the night shift downtown wrestles with his duty as an officer, and as a good Samaritan as he deals with an unruly drunken woman. An exploration of the power dynamics in human relationships in a heartwarming and wry short drama.

Le Nez “Oui Chef” is the sequel where the little clown is being bullied by her boss at work and discovers there is more to him then meets the eye featuring Pedro Miguel Arce.
